A Příbram stand-up, or family roots

In all modesty, it looked like I got out of the worst shit of my life.
At ten, I hadn't heard the words microwave or coffeemaker. Sometimes 13 of us lived in all of 75 meters squared. Relationships? What kind are you thinkin' of? I've got the right to be healthy! I'm trying my best to believe that I'm worth something; that there's a reason to get up everyday. I need your approval. Ya just wanna kill yourself, and all you've got at home is ibuprofen. Getting out of this shit? Well done to you for holding out for this long... I couldn't live with myself for half that time. I've had plenty of "help". Enough! I like you all 'bout as much as a full bottle of booze. It's about as fun as a graveyard here. I know how to show emotion on stage, I got plenty of it pent up inside. You'd rather hear jokes? At this point, I alone am my own worst enemy.

"The series Invisible, about unseen women, began in 2020, growing from a personal drive to shed light on autobiographical stories of women, exceptional artists, who for a variety of reasons were no longer in the center of attention or never got a chance to inhabit it. Thanks to political events, age, an unwilling end to a career, or family history, these women have created and continue to create despite their circumstances. The first piece in the series belongs to Hana Frejkova, whose father was executed during the Slansky show trials, and a now eighty-year old Frejkova shares and sings her story. The second piece of the series is about prima ballerina Barbora Vaska Kaufmannova and the entirely unwanted end to her career and the emptiness that followed. And the third piece of the series is dedicated to actress Iris Kristekova, who despite transgenerational trauma and extreme familial dysfunction managed to fulfill her dreams and share her strength with others. The goal of the project is the de-stigmatization and support of an empathetic approach towards those who experienced something similar, and the highlighting of their revelations and small personal victories. After her experience with BALLERINAS and the previous performances in Invisible, I truly believe that art has the ability to heal. The audience member safely explores their own unregulated psychological space, consciously or unconsciously," Says Mirenka Cechova.

This piece was created with support from the Prague, the Czech Ministry of Culture, the State Fund for the Arts of the Czech Republic, Rezi.dance and GOGLMOGL productions.
